The Proceedings of the Nova Scotian Institute of Science is a peer-reviewed journal containing papers on new scientific theories based on scientific principles and/or analysis of data particular to Nova Scotia or the Atlantic Provinces. The first volume of The Proceedings was published in 1863. The Proceedings of the Nova Scotian Institute of Science is sponsored by the Nova Scotian Institute of Science and supported in part by a grant from the Nova Scotia Museum. The Institute also publishes occasional reports on aspects of science in Nova Scotia.

All volumes of the NSIS Proceedings are available online and can be accessed by clicking on the following links:

    • Current issue – available to members only for the first 6 months following publication.

The digitization of the early volumes of the Proceedings was a project undertaken in partnership with the Dalhousie University Libraries. Beginning in the spring of 2014, the Libraries also host the more recent online issues of the Proceedings using the Open Journal Systems software.
