164th Annual General Meeting

The 164th Annual General Meeting of the NSIS will be held at 6:30pm ADT on Monday, May 5, 2025. Prior to the AGM there will be a buffet dinner, and the AGM will then also be followed by the May Public Lecture at 7:30pm. All three parts (dinner, AGM, and lecture) will take place at Saint Mary's University in Halifax and also on ZOOM.

Full AGM Details 

In 2025, we are pleased to be having an in-person Annual General Meeting, coupled with a Buffet Dinner and Lecture: an enjoyable social event to finish this year’s NSIS activities.

Schedule: 

5:30pm Buffet Dinner – in-person activity; you may bring a guest; there is a fee
6:30pm Annual General Meeting – free and open to all, but only NSIS Members can vote.
7:30pm Public Lecture – free and open to all (Dr. Lori Borgal of MSVU, “Stem Cell Proliferation Gone Wrong: Mechanisms Exploited in Cancer Cell Proliferation). 

You may attend 1, 2, or all 3 activities. Zoom links for those who cannot attend the Meeting and/or the Lecture in person will be provided with the Agenda.

The Buffet Dinner:   An enjoyable social event before the AGM itself. 

It will include:
- Baby spinach salad with pears, red onion and chopped walnuts.
- Market green salad: shredded carrot, cucumber and tomatoes.
- Roast turkey with pear & apple stuffing and gravy.
- Moroccan stew with rice (vegetarian/vegan option).
- Deserts chosen by the Chef.
- Tea, coffee, water.
- Those attending the dinner will be able to purchase wine, beer, and soft drinks at a cash bar.

The charge for the dinner is $40 per person -- but note that we
are offering a $10 discount tothose dinner attendees who continue,
renew, or start an NSIS Membership (by April 28th), good until
Aug. 31st, 2026.
